If you have attended before you  will have noticed  that this is not just a meal like in a restaurant.  This is more than just a chance for great food.  Sunday Dinner at Don Lee is a program in Christian Hospitality offered by North Carolina United Methodist Camp and Retreat Ministries, Inc.  Christian Hospitality is that experience we as Christian are called to offer the world.  We invite persons into not just our home, our facility, our table, but into a time of sharing our lives.  Many who have attended have commented on how friendly everyone on staff have been and how the whole experience has encouraged people to meet new people, to talk to people they have not talked to in years, and to share stories with people from your family or from across the world.  One lady told us that she attended the program every week and she says the food is outstanding but that she has been most happy at the new people she has met.  She says she now sees many of these people out in the community and she is now able to speak to them and she feels much more included in her new community.

     Sunday Dinner has been a time when members from many area churches have gathered.  There have been consistent folks coming from Arapahoe UMC, Oriental UMC, Pamlico UMC, Alliance UMC, Bayboro UMC, Stonewall UMC, Arapahoe FWB, Rock of Zion FWB, Bethany Christian, Oriental Baptist, Amity Christian, Franklin Memorial UMC in Morehead City, Vanceboro UMC, Jarvis Memorial UMC in Greenville, Webb Chapel UMC near Kinston, Warren Chapel UMC near Chocowinity, Hay Street UMC in Fayetteville, Centenary UMC in New Bern and many more churches.  There have been people who do not attend church anywhere but have been invited by others in their community to join them for fellowship.  Sunday afternoons have become like a day retreat for families and individuals.  One of missions of this ministry is to help build a caring community.  For members of the community to know and spend time with each other certainly leads to the formation of that kind of community.
