Don Lee Camp & Retreat Center was designed for the use of children and youth. Our facility is in an outdoor setting on the banks of the Neuse River. Housing includes a number of cabins with bunk beds for sleeping and porches for sitting and relaxing. There are two different styles of cabins that can sleep 20 or 24 each and are assigned based on group numbers and gender breakdowns. The cabins do have electricity and ceiling fans in each room for those hot days. We also provide heaters for those colder months. A bathhouse is conveniently located near the cabins.
Nutritious, family-style meals are a long time tradition at Don Lee Camp & Retreat Center, and are a big attraction for most groups! Meals are served with meat, two vegetables, a fruit, bread, and a dessert. We promise that all hungry appetites will be satisfied.
The safety of students is a top priority with teachers planning trips of this nature, and with the staff at Don Lee. Our facility helps ease the worry for teachers. The center is set apart from the hurried pace of the city, and therefore removes the possibility of students wandering off from the group by some nearby distraction. This setting allows teachers to know where their students are while giving students freedom to explore and roam within the bounds of the Center. In cases of severe weather, Don Lee Camp & Retreat Center follows established standard operating procedures.
