Marine Science
Are you hoping to be a future Jacque Coustou? Do you want to be a biologist someday exploring our beautiful oceans and beaches? Well this may just be the camp for you!

During Marine Science Camps at Don Lee Center we will explore the Neuse River estuary with the marshes, crabs, flounders and fishes; take a trip to Fort Macon State Park and explore the beach ecology of a barrier island, learn about marine mammals, sharks, and sea turtles, and play in the saltmarsh mud! We will even dissect squid, and handle the friendly marine invertebrates, reptiles, and amphibians that live in our nature hut. 

Ever been on a research vessel? Well here's your chance to sample the ocean with a trawl net and dredge. Campers will also take a trip on a Duke Marine Lab research vessel to collect fihs and marine inverts, visit the NC maritime Museum, explore a barrier island beach, and spend a night at the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.  Don't worry; we will still go sailing, swimming, kayaking and do all the other great stuff camp has to offer!

It's going to be a great week of exciting adventures and discoveries for those interested in exploring the last great frontier.the big blue ocean!

*Due to popular demand we have decide to add another week of Marine Science Camp…YEAH!!!  This camp will take place on August 10-16. The offsite trip during this Marine Science Camp will be slightly different. Campers will take a trip on a research vessel to collect fish and marine inverts, snorkel and search for wild horse on Shackelford Island, and spend a morning exploring the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.

These are very popular camps. We had more campers register for these camps on December 1st than any other single camp option.
